Brandt Snewins the FedExCupdeker

Brandt Snewins the FedExCupdeker From hip surgery to FedExCup Champion in less than a year, Brandt Snedeker's hard work and dedication paid off with a two victories in 2012 and winning the FedExCup. With the 2012 PGA TOUR season now complete, the crew at PGATOUR.COM will debate some of the year뭩 big questions. Wednesday뭩 question: Who or what was your biggest surprise? Fill out the form below and give us your response. Previous questions: What was the best round on TOUR in 2012? ?Sunday at the British Open. Ernie Els?record in the oldest major was stellar with 11 top 10s in 17 starts, including six of third or better. But who would have thought he뭗 win his second Claret Jug as Adam Scott self-destructed with bogeys on the final four holes? ?Helen Ross, Chief of Correspondents ?Not sure anybody was surprised that Jason Dufner is a world-class golfer, but no golfer on the planet was better than Dufner during a prolonged stretch in late spring. His play at the Ryder Cup confirmed that he뭩 a force to be reckoned with in 2013. ?Mike McAllister, Managing Editor ?This one뭩 a tie between Els and Kyle Stanley. There were times I questioned whether Els would ever win again, much less at a major, so his victory at the British Open wasn뭪 something I saw coming (though Scott certainly played a role given his epic collapse). Likewise, Stanley erasing a final-round eight-shot deficit in Phoenix the week after he blew a seven-shot lead in San Diego was a shocker. Stanley뭩 biggest battles are usually between his ears, but he showed a lot of mental toughness in his first career win. ?Brian Wacker, Producer ?Scott뭩 collapse over the final four holes of the British Open was simply devastating, reminding us yet again how difficult it is to secure that first major championship. It뭩 epic nature brought to mind the meltdown at the 1996 Masters suffered by the Aussie뭩 countryman and mentor, Greg Norman. ?John Swantek, host, On The Tee ?Sunday at the Ryder Cup was shocking. For Europe to stage its comeback took a combination of quality play, mental toughness and luck. Phil Mickelson almost holed his chip on the 17th, then watched Justin Rose roll home a snake of a putt to win the hole. Jim Furyk뭩 putt on the 16th hole was in the middle of the cup until taking an incredible left-hand turn. Those type of incidents were repeated throughout the final round. I am sure Davis Love III still replays the day in his mind and comes up with the same conclusion: There is no way the Europeans could win꿣ut they did. ?Fred Albers, PGA TOUR Insider ?Brandt Snedeker뭩 FedExCup victory. The 4-time PGA Tour champion stepped on the gas under pressure in the FedExCup playoffs, and didn뭪 let go until both the Tour Championship by Coca Cola trophy and the FedExCup trophy were his. The Vandy alum finished outside of the top 6 just once during the FedExCup Playoffs ?surprising for a player who hadn뭪 been under the kind of pressure he was with a Ryder Cup spot on the line. ?Amanda Balionis, host, PGA TOUR Today ?Scott뭩 collapse at the British Open. He was in control, ahead by four with four holes to play, before bogeying all of them to lose to Els at Royal Lytham & St. Annes. After missing a 7-footer for par on the 72nd hole that would have forced a playoff, all Scott could mutter to himself was, 밯ow.?Wow, indeed. ?Bill Cooney, Producer ?Sunday at Medinah. I was home with a one-week-old newborn and didn뭪 think Sunday뭩 matches were must-see TV with the Americans?huge lead. Of course I tuned in anyway꿻hen wished I hadn뭪. ?John Schwarb, Producer ?I didn뭪 think Dufner would bounce back that quickly from the tough loss he was handed at the 2011 PGA Championship. Instead, Dufner carried over that performance into a year full of perfect play and became one of the world뭩 best players in only a matter of months. ?Ryan Smithson, Producer ?Nothing ever surprises me. ?Chris Dunham, Producer ?I뭢 still not sure what was a bigger surprise: Seeing sure-handed Adam Scott fumble away the British Open or seeing Els win it. There was nothing about the past two years that suggested Els would make that 20-footer on 18, but without hesitation he dropped it in the heart of the cup and gave fans one of the best get-off-your-couch-and-cheer moments of the season. ?D.J. Piehowski, Social Media Coordinator ?The stunning way Europe came back in Sunday뭩 singles matches at the Ryder Cup was something nobody could have predicted ?except those in Europe뭩 team room Saturday night. The way they pieced together the comeback and stole the Ryder Cup out of the American team뭩 hands was simply unforgettable. ?Lauren Teague, Social Media Manager ?I뭭e lived long enough not to be surprised by too much in this game, but Europe뭩 comeback in Sunday singles at the Ryder Cup qualifies. Even though the scoreboard read 10-6 in favor of the Americans after the fourth session, Poulter뭩 momentum carried Europe to the win. ?Rob Bolton, Fantasy Expert COMING THURSDAY: What was your favorite moment of 2012?
