Woods could make big leap in world ranking By Rex Hoggard Jan 28, 2012 3:10 AM ET ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates ?The projections have not yet been sent out for this week뭩 Official World Golf Ranking, but according to Golf Channel뭩 own number crunchers Tiger Woods would move into the top 20, and possibly as high as 11th, with a victory this week at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship. This week뭩 winner will receive between 56 and 60 ranking points, which would be enough to vault Woods, who is currently 25th, past Phil Mickelson, 15th in the ranking but who missed the cut at Torrey Pines. Even 20 points, which would be a top-three finish in Abu Dhabi, could move Woods as high as 16th in the ranking. Rory McIlroy, third in the ranking, also has a chance to unseat world No. 2 Lee Westwood. The Ulsterman went into the third round tied for fourth place with Woods at 5 under, while Westwood was at even par.
