ROUND 2: LIVE UPDATES (all times ET)

4:47 p.m. ?/STRONG> The current cut is projected at 2 over with Bill Haas (through 13 holes) and Ben Crane (13) among the players on the number. Two players below the number likely to need a move to make it into the weekend are reigning champion David Toms (4 over through 14), Cameron Tringale (4 over through 10).

4:35 p.m. ?Tommy Gainey has recovered nicely from his back-to-back bogeys on Nos. 7 and 8. He뭩 carded birdies on Nos. 10, 13 and 14 to move into third place at 8 under. Gainey missed the cut last year at Colonial in his only previous Crowne Plaza Invitational start.

4:22 p.m. ?/STRONG> A quick change of fortunes for some of the hotter players on the course. Zach Johnson suffers a bogey on No. 12 while Jim Furyk bogeys back-to-back holes at Nos. 2-3. Johnson drops back to 8 under while Furyk slips to 4 under.

4:11 p.m. ?/STRONG> Zach Johnson continues to work on what could be his 14th-consecutive sub-par round at Colonial. Johnson converted a birdie putt inside five feet on the par-5 11th to reach 9 under and pull within two shots of clubhouse leader Jason Dufner.

4 p.m. ?/STRONG> An 8-foot eagle at the par-5 first hole has moved Jim Furyk into a tie for fifth. Furyk is 5 under on his round and 6 under for the tournament. He has six top-10 finishes in 16 starts at Colonial.

3:50 p.m. ?/STRONG> Sergio Garcia, the 2001 Crowne Plaza champ, was sailing along at 6 under for the week ?until he hit the par-4 ninth. He hit two balls into the water and eventually took an quadruple-bogey 8. He followed that with a bogey at the 10th hole. Losing five strokes in the last two holes, Garcia is now at 1 under for the tournament.

3:43 p.m. ?/STRONG> Rookie Harris English has made two consecutive birdies and is 7 under for the tournament through five holes. English has yet to make a bogey through his first 23 holes this week.

3:38 p.m. ?/STRONG> Zach Johnson has made the turn at 8 under after finishing his front nine with six consecutive pars.

3:31 p.m. ?/STRONG> Defending champion David Toms will have to scramble just to make it to the weekend. He뭩 4 over for the tournament as he nears the halfway point of his second round. The projected cut line is 2 over.

3:27 p.m. ?/STRONG> Expect the scoring average for the afternoon wave to be higher than those who played Friday morning. Of the 61 players still on the course, nobody is better than 2 under thus far. In Thursday뭩 first round, the afternoon scoring average was slightly lower than in the morning.

3:10 p.m. ?/STRONG> Rickie Fowler after his second-round 68: 밆efinitely some room for improvement. I feel like we뭭e left some out there, so I뭢 looking forward to putting together a good round tomorrow and see if we can get ourselves right back in the mix of things.?/P>

2:52 p.m. ?/STRONG> Bogey-free rounds thus far in the second round: Jason Dufner (64), Louis Oosthuizen (67), Bobby Gates (67) and Seung-Yul Noh (69).

2:49 p.m. ?/STRONG> Zach Johnson update: After following his eagle with a birdie at the second hole, Johnson bogeyed the third hole when he couldn뭪 save par from out of the greenside bunker. Through six holes, he뭩 now 2 under on his round and 8 under on the tournament, as he remains Jason Dufner뭩 closest pursuer.

2:33 p.m. ?/STRONG> Jason Dufner after his 64 on Friday: 밒 just feel really comfortable with my game. I뭭e said it now for a couple of months when I step to the first tee I feel like I뭢 good going to play a good round of golf. That뭩 a nice way to play golf. It뭩 a comfortable way to play golf.?/P>

2:03 p.m. ?/STRONG> Numbers on Jason Dufner through two rounds: 21 of 28 fairways hit; 27 of 36 greens hit; 18 one-putts.

2 p.m. ?/STRONG> Bo Van Pelt matches Jason Dufner뭩 round of 64 and is at 7 under for the tournament. Van Pelt had eight birdies and one bogey and had his irons dialed in ?seven of his birdie putts were inside 7 feet. The 64 matches Van Pelt뭩 lowest round of the year; he also shot 64 in the final round of the Masters.

1:46 p.m. ?/STRONG> Just announced in the media center ?Harrison Frazar used an 8-iron to ace the par-13 16th from 183 yards. It뭩 the 26th ace on the PGA TOUR this year. Alas, Frazar followed his ace with a double bogey-bogey finish to shoot 74.

1:37 p.m. ?/STRONG> Rickie Fowler after seeing playing partner Jason Dufner shoot 65-65 in the first two days: 밯e뭨e going to have to play catch-up this weekend.?/P>

1:32 p.m. ?/STRONG> First-round leader Zach Johnson couldn뭪 have asked for a better start ?he rolled in a 16-1/2 foot putt for eagle at the par-5 first and is now 8 under, three shots behind Jason Dufner.

1:09 p.m. ?/STRONG> PLAYERS champ Matt Kuchar birdied his last hole, the par-4 ninth, with a 9-1/2 foot putt, to finish with a 69 and a two-day total of 1 over. That putt might have sealed Kuchar뭩 spot on the weekend. The cutline is at 2 over with the afternoon groups on the course. Kuchar has the longest active cuts streak on TOUR at 18.

1:07 p.m. ?Jason Dufner is the leader in the clubhouse thanks to his bogey-free 64. Zach Johnson, Sergio Garcia and David Toms tee off at 1:18 p.m. ET.

12:42 p.m. ?/STRONG> Another great approach shot by Jason Dufner at the par-4 seventh, as he hit it within 7 feet. This time, though, he couldn뭪 convert the birdie opportunity. That will cost him any shot he had at tying the course record of 61.

12:34 p.m. ?/STRONG> After shooting 65 on Thursday, Tom Gillis backed it up with a solid 1-under 69 on Friday. That leaves him at 6 under for the tournament, a distant second to Jason Dufner. Gillis suffered two bogeys in his first five holes, but settled down after that and was bogey free for his last 13 holes.

12:32 p.m. ?/STRONG> With the first groups in Friday뭩 morning wave just finishing their rounds, the early cut line is 2 over.

12:15 p.m. ?/STRONG> Jason Dufner is now 6 under for his round and 11 under for the tournament after rolling in an 18-1/2 foot birdie putt at the par-4 fifth. Not bad for a guy who doesn뭪 especially enjoy putting. Dufner now leads by five shots. First-round leader Zach Johnson will tee off in one hour.

12:10 p.m. ?/STRONG> Rickie Fowler opened his round with a bogey at the 10th hole, but immediately bounced back with two birdies and has added a third one at the par-5 first. He뭩 now 2 under for his round and 4 under for the tournament. A good showing ?but his playing partner Jason Dufner is threatening to leave everyone in his dust. Click here to follow Fowler뭩 round

12:05 p.m. ?/STRONG> Tim Clark, the 2010 PLAYERS champ plagued by injuries in the last year, is on his way to perhaps his best round of the season. He뭩 a bogey-free 3 under through 11 holes Friday. Of his 16 rounds on the PGA TOUR this year, Clark has just one round in the 60s. Click here to follow Clark뭩 round

Noon ?/STRONG> For the second consecutive round, Jason Dufner has birdied each of the first three holes at Colonial. Friday뭩 streak has him at 10 under for the tournament ?four shots clear of the field. Starting his second round off the 10th tee, Dufner birdied the par-3 13th by sticking his tee shot to 5 feet. At the 17th, his approach shot set up a 7-foot birdie putt. After making the turn, he nearly rolled in his eagle putt at the par-5 first, drained a 9-1/2 foot birdie putt at the second and a birdie putt inside of 3 feet at the third. He뭩 a bogey-free 5 under on his round with five holes to play. Click here to follow Dufner뭩 round
