My sincere apologies for replying back in English. I do not have Korean wordprocessor at work...

Answer to your question is "it depends..."

In general regular benefits under EI system can be paid if you lose your job through no fault of your own (for example, due to shortage of work, seasonal or mass lay-offs) and you are available for and able to work but you can’t find a job.

To be eligible for regular benefits you must show that:

    (1) you have been without work and without pay for at least 7 consecutive days; and

    (2) in the last 52 weeks or since your last claim (this period is called the "qualifying period"), you have worked for the required number of "insurable hours". The hours are based on where you live and the unemployment rate in your economic region at the time of filing your claim for benefits. For instance, if you are a resident of Toronto, the minimum insurable hour is 630 hours. In other word, you should have worked a minimum 16.8 weeks, assuming you worked 7.5 hours per day.

If you had EI insurable earnings, regardless of the nature of work, and meet insurable hour requirement along with other conditions mentioned above, you may be qualified.

    Hope it helps.
