Mother gave me a little spoon with water on my dry lip
She called me name 
Dae Tong, Ah, wake up
I heard it a long way off.

My eyes opened,
And my tongue without almost any movement began to fell the
breath in me.

Slowly I was got better
From that unknown sickness

 
Later
Mother told me about what happened and how I came back alive
I remember she told me a story
It was a legendary tale

Since I lost consciousness,
The village was wrought with tension:

With contagious disease
There were so many people dying
A red ribbon hung down front of our court
Warning of danger

어머니는 나의 메마른 잎술에 물을 적셔 주었고 
내 이름을 부르면서
대통아, 일어나거라  
그 말은 멀리서 들려왔다

가까스로 눈을 떠서 거의 움직임 없이 숨이 차서
혀가 떨고 있었다
알 수 없는 병으로부터
나는 서서히 깨어나고 있었다

후에 알았지만
어머니는 어떤 일이 일어났고 어떠게 살아났는 지를 말해 주었다
나는 그녀의 스토리를 조금은 기억했다
그것은 한 전설적인 이야기였다 

내가 의식을 잃은 후
마을은 긴장된 분위기였다.
전염병으로
많은 이들이 죽어갔다

위험경고
우리집 마당에는 붉은 리본을 쳐놓았다
